VACCINE STATEMENT

At Children’s Healthcare Associates,

we are dedicated to helping your child and your family stay happy and healthy all year long. That means that in addition to providing exceptional care when your child is sick we also believe it is imperative that we provide a wide range of immunization services to help prevent your child from getting sick.  This will also help us get your child ready for school and camp.

Vaccines are proven to be safe and effective at preventing serious diseases, so your child can stay healthy. We believe in following the vaccination guidelines set forth by the Center for Disease Control and the American Academy of Pediatrics to ensure your child receives important immunizations on a schedule that ensures the most beneficial results for your child. Some of the most important pediatric immunizations include DTap for diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis, hepatitis B, MMR for measles, mumps, and rubella, varicella for chicken pox, and HPV vaccines for children 11-12 years of age. Each of these vaccines have undergone rigorous testing to ensure they are safe and can effectively prevent the disease they are designed to. The pediatricians at Children’s Healthcare Associates understand that there is a lot of conflicting information about vaccines available today. We care about each of our patients and their families, and we can take the time to explain which vaccines are appropriate for your child, depending on their age, and provide you with information that shows the efficacy of vaccines to prevent harmful, and even deadly diseases. If your child is healthy enough to receive vaccinations, it is important that they do so. Herd immunity is a phenomenon that refers to the community benefits of vaccines. For people whose immune systems are compromised, herd immunity is especially important.  Children and adults with certain diseases, including cancer, may have diminished immune system capacity as a result of the disease or its treatment. People in situations like this cannot be immunized and are incredibly susceptible to diseases that may be carried by healthier members of the population. For this reason, it is particularly important that children and adults who can be immunized are sure to do so. It not only protects you and your loved ones, but helps your entire community stay healthy.

At Children’s Healthcare Associates, our board-certified pediatrics and experienced physician extenders are dedicated to the health and well-being of every child in our community. We believe in making exceptional pediatric care accessible and affordable to families in and around Amarillo, TX.
